End Credits Scene: The Nethergloam [S1E14]

“What’s it look like?”

“Four guards on a gate wall. Nothing we can’t handle.” The thief crouched beside his companions to give his report.

“Robes?”

“Yeah, dark elves though.”

“Dark elves?” The group seemed quizzical.

“Yeah, just like they’re from Morntalos.”

“I guess they keep a disguise. Stops people poking around,” said Karina.

“Yeah. Doesn’t explain the eagle though.”

“What?”

“There’s…there’s a giant eagle as well.”

“…” The group looked at each other, and then their scout, not speaking.

“…”

“An eagle.” The group’s leader furrowed her brow as she questioned the elf.

“Yep.”

“Why would there be an eagle?”

“I don’t know, it’s a pet or something.”

“A pet?”

“Yeah, you know, like a dog.”

“But an eagle.”

“Yeah.”

“Where would they have found a pet eagle?”

“I mean, I don’t know, they…they got it from…Meriden Zoo?”

“…” Crow and Karina exchanged a look.

“…”

“So you’re telling me we’ve come all the way to the Nethergloam to get this Shield for Virtue and meanwhile—in addition to killing orders of paladins and plotting to overthrow the Empire—these guys have been spending their time pulling off elaborate eagle heists in Meriden?” The group looked blankly at the thief, backing their leader with their silence.

“I didn’t say it was a good explanation, I just said it was an explanation.”

“It’s pushing the definition of explanation,” interjected the wizard.

“Ok, well, I don’t know, maybe they found it.”

“But you don’t get eagles down here,” said Crow.

“I know you don’t get eagles down here.”

“Then why is there an eagle?” asked the tiefling, speaking with his thick accent.

“Look, I don’t know why there’s an eagle, I just know there’s a huge black eagle down there.

“Well you definitely don’t get black eagles down here,” said the ranger, mostly to himself.

“You said you wouldn’t start on the cider until we were finished.” The group’s leader narrowed her eyes.

“I haven’t, there’s just an eagle.”

The rest of the group looked at one another, before replying.

“Not buying it.”

“Yeah, me either.”

“Yeah sorry, you don’t get eagles down here. You must be seeing things.”
